The best age for most teens to begin orthodontic treatment is between ages 12 and 16, when most permanent teeth have erupted, and the jaw is still developing.
Teens typically wear braces between 12 and 24 months, depending on the complexity of the case and the type of treatment used.
Instead of traditional braces and many teens are excellent candidates for Invisalign clear aligners, which offer a discreet and removable orthodontic solution.
Braces don’t hurt most teens, however fhere may be mild discomfort when braces are first placed or adjusted, but this typically fades within a few days as the mouth adapts.
The amount of appointments needed with traditional braces, visits usually occur every 6–8 weeks. With remote monitoring technology, some appointments may be reduced.
Clear braces are effective for teens. Ceramic or clear braces work similarly to metal braces and can effectively treat many orthodontic issues while being less noticeable.
